Frequently Asked Questions

Common Questions Asked about somatic resonance, sound preparations, and nervous system safety.

What exactly happens during a Sound Journey?

A Sound Journey is structurally mapped to guide your brainwaves from active, alert states (Gamma and Beta) down into deep, meditative relaxation (Alpha and Theta states). You will lie down comfortably while I introduce a curated sequence of vibrational frequencies of different instruments to guide your nervous system into a state of rest.

Do I need any prior experience with meditation or sound healing?

Not at all. The beauty of sound journeys is that they require zero skill, effort, or prior practice. Your body naturally responds to physical sound vibrations on a cellular level. All that is required of you is to lie down, breathe, and listen with curiosity and openness.

How should I prepare for my session?

Wear loose, comfortable clothing (sweatpants, layers, and warm socks are highly recommended, as your body temperature naturally drops when you relax). Try to avoid heavy meals, alcohol, or other stimulants including caffeine immediately before the session. Hydration beforehand is also highly recommended, as water helps the sound move through your body.

Is sound healing safe for everyone?

Sound journeys are safe, supportive, and non-invasive for the vast majority of people. However, if you are in your first trimester of pregnancy, have an active pacemaker or other implanted medical device, or experience sound-induced epilepsy, please consult your physician before booking and notify me in advance so we can adapt the instruments safely.

Will I fall asleep?

It happens. If you know that you snore, please lay on your side as opposed to your back if possible as that may reduce the chance of you snoring should you fall asleep. You may also ask your neighbor to gently tap you if you start to fall into a deep sleep.

What if I become upset or feel emotional during a session?

Most emotions pass within 90 seconds. I invite you to see if you can be curious and stay with yourself as you breathe through the experience.

Can I come if I have trouble relaxing, am feeling burnt out, or stressed?

Yes, sound can be helpful if your nervous system is fried and you have a hard time quieting your mind. The frequencies give your mind something to focus on while you rest, without asking you to take on any more than your system can handle.
